Ecology: Marine Ecology
This WG will meet in the second semester (starting January). The goal will be to understand the issues in the ecology of the ocean at the microbial level. Starting from NPZ systems, we will learn the basic biogeochemistry needed to formulate equations for the behavior of relevant species. We will work to formulate the key problems in the area and define projects that can be worked on in small group collaborations. We will look at the problems both from the dynamical systems and the statistical viewpoints, with a particular focus on how data might be used to inform and update the models.
