Advances in theory, analysis, and new forms of data provide numerous opportunities that will be explored in the semester program on Data Science in the Social and\u00a0Behavioral Sciences, starting with this virtual opening workshop, conducted virtually via Zoom.\u00a0 In preparation for this workshop, topic experts have prepared a set of pre-recorded didactic tutorial videos that provide background relevant to the semester program.\u00a0 The January workshop (January 5, 11 and 12) is organized around the following themes: (1) new forms and challenges in digital data; (2) SEMs, DAGs, and Causal\u00a0Inference; and (3) networks in neuroscience, health, and information spread. \u00a0The talks will be aimed at a broader audience and will discuss research opportunities and challenges. \u00a0At\u00a0the end of each day, there is time budgeted for participants to participate in preliminary discussion, formation and consolidation of possible working groups that will meet regularly during the semester program.\u00a0 The SAMSI program is open to all interested researchers, faculty, and students.<\/p>\n
