Description<\/h3>\n

This workshop will introduce basic concepts, methods, and tools used in data science. It is intended for faculty from mathematical sciences departments with little to no background in data science. In this hands-on workshop, participants will be introduced to the fields of data science, statistical learning, and machine learning. They will get an overview of techniques and software used to solve data science problems. Participants will collaborate in teams on data science projects that will involve learning Python, accessing and cleaning large data sets and analyzing the data using some standard data science methods. The content will be delivered by faculty and industry experts in data science. It will be assumed that participants have the experience and the ability to write computer programs in a scientific language.<\/p>\n
