General Information

As part of its Education and Outreach Program for 2005-2006, SAMSI will offer a two-day undergraduate workshop on topics of current interest in statistics and applied mathematics. In addition to an overview of current and planned SAMSI Research Programs, the following topic will be covered in some depth:

National Defense and Homeland Security

This workshop will be held on March 3-4, 2006 at SAMSI. The program will begin at 9:30 AM on Friday, March 3, and will be completed by 12 noon on Saturday, March 4. Participants are urged to arrive on Thursday evening and will be able to begin their return home by 12 noon on Saturday.

Accepted participants will need to purchase plane tickets with a two-week advanced fare. SAMSI will reimburse appropriate fares as well as provide food and lodging.

Application

Applications will be considered beginning January 20, 2006 and continuing until all participant openings are filled. Registrations before February 8, 2006 will be given full consideration.

Upon acceptance for the program, individuals must confirm by e-mail within seven days their intention to participate and also provide details of their travel plans (otherwise their registration will be canceled and their place given to another applicant).
