UQ: Engineering and Renewable Energy Opening Workshop - September 19-21, 2011

Workshop Information

September 19, 2011 - 8:00am - September 21, 2011 - 12:00pm

General Information

The Opening Workshop for the Engineering and Renewable Energy theme of the SAMSI program on Uncertainty Quantification will be held on Monday-Wednesday, September 19-21, 2011, at the Radisson Hotel in Research Triangle Park, NC. The location is in close proximity to SAMSI.

From Monday to mid-day Wednesday, invited speakers will give presentations.  There will be a poster session and reception on Monday, September 19. Additional activities will be organized later during the week at SAMSI for initial working group meetings. This workshop also immediately precedes the Opening Workshop for the Geosciences part of the SAMSI UQ program and will kick off a series of activities for the whole year.

APPLICATION

To begin the application process login and register, then click on "Apply for workshop" at the top of this page.  Be sure to click on the green "Sign Up" button at the end of the application form.

This form also includes the application for financial support. You will be notified as soon as possible after your application if your participation will be possible; regrettably, limited seating will preclude acceptance of all applications. New researchers (graduate students, postdocs, and faculty in the early stages of their careers) and members of underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.

The application/registration deadline is August 19, 2011. Note, however, that capacity might be reached before this deadline. Also, any application that requests support for expenses should typically be submitted at least 6 weeks in advance of the workshop.

After SAMSI has accepted your participation in the workshop, you may access the payform here.

Please make reservations at the Radisson RTP as soon as possible. The SAMSI room block and rate ($109) is effective until August 19. After this date, there is no guarantee a room will be available.  If you have a change in plans, individual room reservations must be cancelled 72 hours prior to arrival. Check-in is at 3:00 PM; check-out is 12:00 noon.

If you need further information please send an email to [email protected].
