Deborshee Sen will be working in SAMSI’s Program on Deep Learning. He received his bachelors masters degrees from the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata, and his PhD degree from the National University of Singapore, where he worked with Ajay Jasra and Alex Thiery on sequential Monte Carlo algorithms. He has been a postdoc with David Dunson at Duke University for the past one and a half years. He is broadly interested in computational statistics, which includes Bayesian computation and sampling algorithms. He is also interested in machine learning algorithms. Apart from this, he is also interested in applied statistics generally. His hobbies include hiking, watching movies, reading, and working out. Having visited several national parks in the US over the summer of 2019, he was enthralled by their beauty and is keenly interested in visiting more.
