Summary of meeting #1: On February 8th, 3-4:30 pm, the observing system design group met with the low-dimensional behavior group. Observing system design algorithms can be broadly classified as 'sensitivity' or 'uncertainty' based algorithms. Some sensitivity based techniques are related to ideas from low-dimensional behavior (especially singular vectors). A number of references on low-dimensional behavior can be found on the low-dimensional behavior website. A number of references for uncertainty based techniques will be added in the near future. The following is a list of topics that were brought up as areas of interest in this working group:
In the next meeting of February 15th, 3-4:30 pm, it was suggested we could begin
by discussing various ideas in low-dimensional behaviour: bred vectors,
singular vectors, lyapunov exponents and move on from there.
The observing system design group continues to meet with
the low-dimensionality group.
